🇮🇳 Built in Delhi, India

The TOEFL speaking coach India never had

Over 2 lakh Indians sit the TOEFL exam every year. When we looked for a serious Indian-built AI tool to help them practice speaking — the most important and most-failed section — we found nothing. So we built SpeakLingua in Delhi.

The exam that opens every door

For millions of Indian families, the TOEFL is not just a test — it is the key. It unlocks a Canadian PR application, a US university seat, an Australian skilled migration visa. The stakes are real: ₹18,000 for the exam fee, years of planning, a family's hopes, a career that could change everything.

India sends more TOEFL test-takers than almost any other country in the world. And yet when you search for serious preparation — specifically for the speaking section, the one that trips up the most Indian candidates — you find nothing built for you. Every credible AI tool is American, Canadian, or operates out of Hong Kong. They charge in dollars. They are designed for someone else.

What was available — and why it wasn't good enough

The traditional route was the coaching center. Jamboree. Career Launcher. TIME Institute. These institutions have been teaching TOEFL speaking the same way since 2005 — a teacher talks at the front of a room, you take notes, you practice once a week in a group session. The TOEFL speaking section gives you 15 seconds to prepare and 45 seconds to respond. No weekly class prepares you for that pressure at 11pm the night before your exam.

The digital alternatives were all foreign. Magoosh — American, costs ₹1,787/month for a 6-month package. PrepEx AI — operates from Hong Kong, charges $39.99/month in USD (₹3,320/month). TestDEN — Canadian. BestMyTest — Canadian. Not one of them has Indian pricing, Indian payment methods, or was built with an Indian student in mind.

India's own EdTech giants — Byju's, Unacademy, Vedantu, upGrad — have enormous distribution but none of them have built an AI-powered TOEFL speaking practice product. They've looked at this space and chosen not to build it. Building real-time speech evaluation that matches ETS rubric scoring is hard. Most platforms don't try.

Why we built SpeakLingua in Delhi

The student we built SpeakLingua for is not in San Francisco. She is in Lucknow, Indore, Bhopal, or a Tier 3 city with one goal: a TOEFL score that opens the next chapter of her life. She is preparing alone — no speaking partner, no coaching center nearby, no confidence that her accent is clear enough. She needs practice she can do at midnight, feedback she can understand, and pricing she can actually afford.

SpeakLingua is built on the premise that every Indian TOEFL aspirant deserves the same preparation quality that a student at a Delhi coaching center gets — except available at 2am, scored by AI calibrated to the ETS rubric, and accessible on any phone without downloading an app.

The TOEFL exam fee alone is ₹18,000. Your preparation should not cost more than your exam. SpeakLingua Pro starts at ₹999/month — a third of what PrepEx AI charges in USD, a sixth of what a single coaching center session costs. For serious students, the yearly plan works out to ₹500/month.

“The TOEFL preparation market forgot about India. India sends the most TOEFL test-takers in the world, and every serious AI tool was built for someone else. That felt wrong to us, so we fixed it.”

What SpeakLingua does

SpeakLingua is an AI speaking coach built specifically for the TOEFL iBT exam. It covers both tasks in the 2026 TOEFL speaking section — Listen and Repeat (phoneme accuracy, rhythm, connected speech) and Take an Interview (fluency, vocabulary, idea development, pacing).

Every response is scored in real time across the four dimensions ETS uses: pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary. Scores map to CEFR levels so you always know exactly where you stand. The AI identifies specific patterns — filler words, pacing problems, pronunciation gaps — and gives you targeted drills to fix them.

There is no app to download. It works in any browser, on any phone, instantly. 8 free sessions a day, no signup required. When you are ready to practice without limits, Pro unlocks everything for ₹999/month.

🎤

Listen and Repeat

Phoneme-level scoring. Hear a sentence, repeat it, see exactly which sounds you missed.

💬

Take an Interview

AI interviewer asks 4–6 questions. Scored on fluency, vocabulary, pacing, and idea development.

📊

Real-time AI scoring

Results in seconds. Calibrated to ETS rubric dimensions — the same criteria the real examiners use.

🎯

Personalised drills

The AI tracks your weak areas session by session and generates targeted practice.

11 lakh Indians take IELTS — we built for them too

While building SpeakLingua for TOEFL aspirants, we discovered something: 11 lakh Indians take IELTS every year — 8–14× more than TOEFL. For most of them, it is not an academic exercise. It is the gate. Band 6 unlocks Canada PR and Australian skilled migration. Band 7 unlocks the UK Skilled Worker visa. The gap between Band 5 and Band 6 can mean the difference between getting a PR and not.

No serious Indian-built AI IELTS speaking tool existed. E2Language is Australian. IELTS Advantage is British. British Council coaching costs ₹10,000+ per course. Every credible option was built for someone else, priced for someone else.

SpeakLingua's IELTS platform covers all three speaking parts — including an adaptive AI examiner for Parts 1 and 3 that asks follow-up questions when your answers are too short, and a band progression system that shows you exactly which of the 4 criteria is holding back your score. We also built "Fix My Pronunciation" — 90 targeted drills for the 6 error patterns that cost Indian speakers the most band points: TH sounds, vowel length, dropped final consonants, syllable stress, flat intonation, and article omission.

Adaptive IELTS Examiner

Parts 1 and 3 use an AI examiner that follows up when your answers are short — just like the real test.

Full 3-Part Coverage

Band Progression System

Diagnose your starting band → set a target → see exactly which criterion is holding you back.

Our mission

The TOEFL and IELTS should not be privileges. A student in Patna deserves the same preparation quality as a student at an IIT coaching center in Delhi. We will keep SpeakLingua priced for India, built for India, and improving for India — because 13 lakh aspirants a year deserve better than the tools the rest of the world left behind for them.
